Carlson's 29 points, 22 boards lead Cavs past Piedmont

Cuthbertson's girls improve to 6-1 in league

Behind 29 points and 22 rebounds from junior forward Morgan Carlson, Cuthbertson High’s girls basketball team beat Piedmont 57-40 on the road Tuesday.

The Cavaliers improved to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in the Rocky River Conference. Piedmont fell to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.

Cuthbertson led by five at halftime (21-15), but used a 9-0 run to start the third quarter to take control. Carlson scored the first seven points of the third.

The Cavs, who have won four straight, led by as many as 22 in the second half.


Taylor Helms, a sophomore guard, added 15 points, six assists and five rebounds for Cuthbertson.

Piedmont got 15 points and eight rebounds from Abbey Mills.

Jackie Price added eight points off the bench for the Panthers, who also got six points apiece from Jessica Purser and Sarah Wylie.

Piedmont plays at Union Academy in a makeup game on Thursday while Cuthbertson returns to action at home against UA on Friday.
