Sun Valley boys repeat as SCC tourney champs
Sun Valley's boys left no doubt in the finals, dominanting Anson County 70-43 to win the Southern Carolina Conference tournament on their home court Friday.
The Spartans have now won six straight to improve to 17-8 on the season.
Sun Valley senior forward Kendall Ratliff scored 12 of his team's 17 points in the first half, helping his team take a 35-19 lead into the break.
Sun Valley also got a big game from senior point guard Kevin Saxton, who finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Sophomore forward Hakeem Polk added 10 points and eight boards for SV.
BJ Tyson led Anson County (12-13) with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Will Smith scored 11 and Stephen Minter contributed 14 rebounds and seven points.
Leading 8-5, Sun Valley pulled away with a 9-2 run to end the first quarter.
Anson never got closer than 15 points in the second half.
The Spartans will be at home in the first round of the 4A playoffs on Monday, while Anson will travel in the 3A bracket.
