The Yellow Jackets (11-9) travel to Chase High where they will face the Trojans (9-16) in the first match of the night.
The winner of the match will face the victor of Owen (14-14) and West Stanly (17-10), which made the playoffs with a wild-card bid.
The appearance in the playoffs is the first for the Yellow Jackets since 2006, when they were led by eventual state runner-up Robbie Blount.
“It has been a big accomplishment for the kids,” Yellow Jackets coach Derrick Johnson said. “They worked hard and our seven seniors were good leaders. Malik Clyburn, Fale Mapuoletuli, those guys have been great along with the other seniors. They helped keep the team together and the young kids did a good job of filling in the other spots.”
Johnson likes the draw draw.
“It looks pretty good for us,” Johnson said. “Both teams look pretty even. They have some open classes, we have two classes we can’t fill at 106 and 113. I think it’s going to be pretty even. For us it was a pretty good draw.”
The defending 2A state champion Piedmont Panthers will host their first two rounds of the playoffs.
The Panthers (29-5) will face TW Andrews (6-6) in the first round.

The Pirates (25-4) travel to Hough High for their meeting with T.C. Roberson (23-4) in the first round.
The host Huskies (23-2) will face South Meck (28-9) to decide the second round matchup.
The Spartans (36-5) won the Southern Carolina Conference but got a tough travel draw with a trip to West Forsyth today.
