Rebels edge WHS, end 12-game losing streak
Sophomore guard Max Robinson made 1-of-2 free throws with 2.5 seconds left to lift Parkwood High's boys basketball team to a 54-53 road win over Weddington on Monday.
The Rebels, who snapped a 12-game losing streak, improved to 2-18 overall and 1-8 in the Southern Carolina Conference. The Warriors fell to 13-10 overall and 5-4 in the league.
Parkwood trailed by five with under a minute to play, but rallied and tied the game on an offensive rebound and putback by Keelyn Lee with seven seconds left.
After a Weddington turnover, Robinson drove the lane and was fouled. He made the first free throw and missed the second, but got his own rebound and ran out the clock.
Terrel Williams led the Rebels with 14 points. Robinson and James Houston each added 10 for Parkwood.
Brandon Watts paced Weddington with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Parkwood hosts Monroe on Wednesday before wrapping up the regular season at home against Anson County on Friday.
