Carter carries Warriors with career-high 36

Junior forward leads WHS to road win over Sun Valley

Bailee Carter dropped a career-high 36 points to lead Weddington High's girls basketball team to a 59-33 road win over Sun Valley on Tuesday.

The Warriors improved to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Carolina Conference. The Spartans dropped to 5-13 overall and 0-5 in league play.

Carter, a junior forward, made 14 field goals, including four 3-pointers. She was also 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Carter had 21 points in the first half, helping Weddington to a 32-18 lead. Sun Valley never got closer in the second half.

Stephanie Watts, a sophomore guard, added 11 points, six steals, five rebounds, four assists and four blocks for the Warriors.

Senior guard Amanda Bill led the Spartans with nine points, six rebounds and four steals.

Sun Valley also got seven points and six rebounds from freshman center Brittney Picket.

Both teams return to action on Friday, when Weddington travels to Anson County and Sun Valley hosts Marvin Ridge.
