Ardrey Kell hands PR girls first loss

Knights now 6-0 after 13-point road win

Ardrey Kell High's girls basketball team handed Porter Ridge its first loss of the season with a 59-46 road victory over the Pirates on Friday.

The Knights improved to 6-0 while Porter Ridge fell to 3-1.

Ardrey Kell built a 14-point lead by halftime (31-17) and the Pirates never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

Sophomore forward Raven Dean led the Knights with 15 points and eight rebounds and freshman Erin Whalen added 11 points and four assists for AK.

Porter Ridge got a team-high 13 points from senior guard Jasmine Huntley, who also finished with four steals and three assists.

Senior forward Jada Huntley added nine points for the Pirates, while senior forward Justice McKinney grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Jade Jones and Kara Cunningham each added six points for PR.

Porter Ridge started the season with double-digit wins over Central Academy (62-34), Providence (77-23) and Independence (57-34).

The Pirates are back in action on Monday at Central Cabarrus.
