Piedmont wins Game 3, takes series from WHS

Panthers get three-hit shutout from Nash

Junior David Nash threw a three-hitter and Piedmont's defense didn't commit an error in Friday's 10-0 home win over Weddington.
The Panthers won two out of three games this week against WHS in a matchup between two programs that produced state championships in 2013.
Nash (3-3 record) has gotten the decision in four straight games for Piedmont.
Nash threw a no-hitter and didn't walk anybody in a seven-inning win against Anson County on March 30. He picked up the win in relief against the Warriors on Tuesday, and took the loss as a reliever on Wednesday.
Piedmont scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning off Weddington starter Eric Whitecavage, highlighted by Josh Evans' two-RBI single.
Colton Greene ended the game with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning when his RBI single scored Corey Sikes and pushed the lead into double digits.
Sikes was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored and Greene went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Nigel Hester, Hunter Jones andTodd Elwood also had hits.
Piedmont improved to 5-1 in the Southern Carolina Conference and 8-3 overall while Weddington dropped to 3-3 in the league and 5-4 overall.
Piedmont has home field advantage in next week's three-game series against first-place Marvin Ridge (6-0) starting on Tuesday.
Weddington hosts Sun Valley in the first game of their series on Tuesday.
