CHARLOTTE — Ardrey Kell needed just five innings to defeat Weddington 12-2 on Wednesday.
The Knights are now 5-1 on the season, including a 12-4 win over the Warriors on March 4.
Weddington, the defending 3A state champion, dropped to 1-4 on the season.
WHS has four players on the roster who have either signed or committed to a major college, but three are pitchers who have been limited by injuries.
Senior lefty Alex Bostic, who has signed with Clemson, has been batting but hasn't been able to pitch this season.
Bostic told The Enquirer-Journal after Wednesday's loss he expects to pitch for the first time this season when WHS plays in an Easter tournament at East Mecklenburg High April 1-3.
Weddington is awaiting the MRI results of junior pitcher Sean Collins, who has committed to Virginia.
The Warriors host Providence on Monday.
