Krzyzewski turns in his best work yet with 2015 title team

Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski won his fifth national title this season, and he did it with only eight scholarship players. Four of those eight are freshmen, and they scored all the points in the second half of the 68-63 win over Wisconsin. It isn't debatable: Coach K is the best men's basketball coach of his era.

Watts voted state player of year

Weddington High superstar guard Stephanie Watts got 17 of the 21 votes for Associated Press state player of the year. Watts, a UNC signee and McDonald's All-American, says she's honored to receive the award.

Panthers perfect in own tourney

Piedmont's powerhouse baseball program is having another successful season. The Panthers, who won the 2A state title in 2013 and finished second as a 3A school last year, have won five in a row and 12 of their last 13 games. They went 3-0 at their own tournament during Spring Break.

Cuthbertson's baseball team got a grand slam and four hits from senior third baseman Bailey Connell in a 14-2 road win over Weddington on Thursday. "We brought the bats today," said Connell.

Sophomore Matt Moser threw a three-hitter in Piedmont's 10-0 win over Anson. The Panthers started the season 0-2 but have won six straight baseball games since then.

Crowder runs 40 in 4.39 seconds

After a disappointing 4.56 time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, Duke receiver Jamison Crowder bounced back by running a 4.39 at his pro day. The former Monroe High star is looking to boost his stock in the draft. which starts at the end of April.
