Marvin Ridge High introduced coach Brad Hoover to the community on Monday. Hoover told his players, and anyone else who cared to listen, he will be emphasizing "attitude and effort."

Souther siblings dominating the pool

Lexi Souther and her older brother, Sam, added some hardware to the mantle this winter. Just a sophomore, Lexi was named the swimmer of the year among girls in the Rocky River Conference. Sam, a junior, won the same honor on the boys side. Here's the twist: They accomplished the feat for different schools.

Jackets' Crowder among nation's fastest sprinters

Forest Hills junior Juwan Crowder turned in a blazing time at an indoor track meet in Winston-Salem on Saturday, running the second-fastest recorded high school time in the nation this season in the 55-meter dash. Crowder covered the event in 6.31 seconds.

Report: Sunseri going pro early

Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri, a former star linebacker at Marvin Ridge High, is entering the NFL Draft after his junior season, according to multiple media reports. Sunseri is ahead of schedule after suffering a torn ACL seven games into the 2013 season.

Former Carolina Panthers fullback Brad Hoover generated a lot of excitement when he took the job as head football coach at Union Academy last year, but his stay was short-lived. Hoover stepped down on Monday after going 6-6 in his one season in charge.

Monroe's Wynn commits to Charlotte

Redhawks defensive back Tre'Shun Wynn gave Charlotte 49ers football coach Brad Lambert some good news on Thursday afternoon. Lambert stopped by Monroe High's campus around lunchtime and left with a commitment from Wynn, a three-star recruit.
