Man gets 20 years

on cocaine charges

CHARLOTTE — A Marshville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for distributing cocaine.

Terence Devon Garmon, 28, of Marshville, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Charlotte for drug possession and distribution in Union County in August 2008.

Garmon was considered a “career offender” under the U.S. sentencing guidelines.

Federal sentences are served without possibility of parole; Garmon has been in custody since his December 2008 arrest.

Garmon was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr. to 20 years’ imprisonment, followed by a 10-year term of supervised release, after Garmon entered a guilty plea on March 13 to one count of possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack” cocaine.
