MONROE — Everette Baucom died Thursday (Oct. 15, 2009) at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

Arrangements will be announced by Morgan & Son Funeral Home of Marshville.

Donnie Fincher

CHARLOTTE — Donnie Lee Fincher, 56, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 2009) at home.

Funeral will be 7 p.m. today at Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Indian Trail.

Born Jan. 21, 1953, he was a son of the late Earl and Ruby Owens Fincher.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Fincher; one son, Edward Fincher of Charlotte; three daughters, Angie Wolkow of Okinawa, Japan, Autumn Fincher of Charlotte, Adrian Fincher of Mooresville; two brothers, David Fincher of Tennessee, Darrell Fincher of Charlotte; one sister, Geraldine Rice of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will follow the service today at the funeral home.

Florence Griffin

INDIAN TRAIL — Mrs. Sarah Florence Simpson Griffin, age 91, of Indian Trail, passed away on Wednesday evening (Oct. 14, 2009) at CMC-Union.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (October 17, 2009) at Ebenezer Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Leon Whitley and Reverend Tim Rogers.

Interment will follow at the Price Cemetery in Indian Trail.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 17, 2009) prior to the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Griffin was born on August 10, 1918, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Reece Johnson Simpson and Sarah Frances Rowell Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wilson Griffin in 2005.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Griffin worked as a textile weaver for Cannon Mills- Kannapolis. Later in her career, she and her late husband, Wilson Griffin, worked as houseparents at Boys Home in Huntersville.

Survivors include two sons, Darwin “Dee” Helms and wife, Shirl Helms of Salisbury, and Doug Griffin and wife Pam Griffin of Goldsboro; and two daughters, Sarah Lynne Johnson and husband Danny Johnson of Chesterfield, S.C., and Debbie Griffin of the home: two sisters, Blanche Honeycutt of Monroe and Bernice Eudy of Indian Trail.

There are 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Ben Pierce

INDIAN TRAIL — Ambrose Benjamin “Ben” Pierce, 76, died Wednesday (Oct. 14, 2009) at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Graveside service, with military rites, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Oakboro Cemetery.

Born Nov. 8, 1932, in Wilkes County, he was a son of the late Edward and Anna Belle Pierce. He was the owner and operator of Pierce Farrier Supply in Wilkes County.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Cook Pierce; two daughters, Samona Adams of Mint Hill, Mitzi Cribb of Albemarle; one son, Marcus Pierce of Indian Trail; three sisters, Jean Guffey of Indiana, Tean Ellis of Wilkesboro, Jackie Lankford of Miller’s Creek; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.
