WEDDING: Mills-Helms
Philadelphia Baptist Church in Marshville was the setting for the 5 p.m., Oct. 10, 2009, wedding of Jennifer Ashley Mills and Brian Ashley Helms. The Rev. Robert Caroll Anthony officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Tony and Teresa Eudy, and John Mills Jr., all of Marshville. She is the granddaughter of Margie Evans of Pageland, S.C., and the late Billy Sowell Evans, and Cora Lee Mills of Marshville and the late John Melvin Mills Sr.
She graduated from Forest Hills High School in 2005 and from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2009. She is employed by Carolinas Medical Center-Union as a registered nurse.
The groom is the son of Terry and Diane Conroy of Clayton and Wayne Helms of Monroe. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph DeTuliis of Lyndhurst, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helms of Monroe. He is a 1998 graduate of Sun Valley High School and is employed by Union County Public Works.
The bride, escorted by her father and presented by her parents, wore a strapless white pearl satin dress. She carried a nosegay bouquet of fresh, white hydrangeas, sweet hot pink roses, lime-green fugi mums and pink Gerbera daisies.
Serving as matron of honor was Meghan Threatt, cousin of the bride, of Jefferson, S.C.
Bridesmaids were Lauren Davis of Marshville, Megan McSwain of Harrisburg, Lauren Bailey of Pinehurst, Julie Eudy of Monroe, and Ashley Rorie Furr of Monroe.
The groom’s father served as best man.
Groomsmen were Jared Broome of Waxhaw, Jonathan Mills of Marshville and Andrew Thomas, Greg Eudy and Shaun Mangum, all of Monroe.
Also in the wedding party were Elizabeth Simpson of Peachland as flower girl, Camden Threatt of Jefferson as ring bearer, Emma Simpson of Peachland and Brooke Baker of Monroe as junior bridesmaids, and Logan Helms of Monroe as junior groomsman.
The wedding reception, held at Monroe Country Club, followed the ceremony. The rehearsal dinner was held Oct. 9, 2009, at Hilltop Bistro Restaurant in Monroe.
After a wedding trip to Cozumel, Key West and Belize, the Helmses reside in Monroe.
