Shelter supporters on ‘Spotlight’

MONROE — The new episode of “Union County Spotlight” features a discussion with Lt. Michelle Starnes, president of the Friends of the Union County Animal Shelter Inc.

The show is currently airing daily on the Union County Government Channel, UCTV 16, at 8:15 a.m., 5:15 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. A schedule for all UCTV 16 programs can be viewed at www.co.union.nc.us.

HB to turn on Christmas lights

HEMBY BRIDGE — Hemby Bridge will light the town’s Christmas lights Saturday at the intersection of Secrest Short Cut and Indian Trail-Fairview roads.

School board to meet Dec. 8

MONROE — The Union County Board of Education will have its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at Western Union Elementary School in Waxhaw. The board normally meets the first Tuesday of the month.

School facilities panel to meet

MONROE — The Union County Board of Education’s Facilities Committee will meet on Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. in the Central Services board room located at 400 N. Church St. The committee will discuss the comprehensive facility plan, the track at Marvin Elementary School, an energy manager and a roof lease for photo voltaic panels.
